World of Warcraft: Forever New Horizons Cinematic Trailer – Breakdown!

The scene opens with a white flowing spirit, flying around in circles, falling into someone’s hand…

A voice begins…

“Our home, Azeroth…”

A map of Azeroth comes into view. As it was in the beginning.

No Northrend, Pandaria, or any other land – just Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, and the isles of Zandalar, and Kezan.

“… her untold stories call to our hearts, revealing lands unexplored, forgotten secrets…”

In the top left of Kalimdor in the water we see the outline of a sea serpent, and in the bottom right of Eastern Kingdoms a giant turtle. And just to the left a ship churning in the waters.

In the middle is the Maelstrom, ever present.

“… and new horizons!”

The map pans out and the names of the capital cities appear across the map, Durotar, Mulgore, Undercity, Lordaeron, Ironforge, Khaz Modan, and Stormwind…

(This version of the game is set immediately after the Third War, or, Warcraft 3).

We then see the famous dwarf hunter and his brown bear from the earlier cinematics of Vanilla, Classic, and many other places… (editor:- they don’t have a name? Come on blizz!).

He begins to trudge through the snow of Dun Morogh towards Ironforge in the distance, as he has done time before in all the other cinematics.

But this time the spirit begins to fly around the dwarf’s head, and then the beast’s, seeming to beckon them. The bear turns to look at his master, the dwarf hesitates, and then nods, and they turn and walk back down the mountain, and AWAY from Ironforge!

‘Blizzard Entertainment Presents’

The dwarf picks at a Peacebloom, and the bear plays with the White Spirit. What is happening? This isn’t the duo we know, but we love them!

The dwarf and bear are then seen hiding behind a rock, as a Horde troupe marches across a stone bridge.

The scene again changes, this time the bear is running across the plains, the dwarf whistles, and the bear changes direction, north… leading us to a giant purple bubble!

Giant beams of light circle the bubble, like streaks of lightning, sliding across the surface.

Suddenly there are crashes of explosions as the beams of light begin to collide, and the purple bubble flows to the ground…

And the city of Dalaran appears. With gigantic white pillars of marble and stone, and the crescendo of the music our heroes are invited inside!

The white spirit pauses, and then disappears underground.

In the dark, a hooded figure begins to stand, placing his foot on the stone floor beneath him to rise, a circle of fire grows beneath him.

The flame circles upwards of his leg, clashing his giant hammer and shield together as the light grows, a hooded undead figure with long white hair glances upwards as power surges around him and the red symbol of the horde shines brightly on his chest… An undead paladin!

The bear and dwarf appear behind him and battle commences!

The bear charges forward, the undead growls and lunges, the dwarf’s boomstick fires, the undead deflects the shot and swings his hammer in judgement…!

A flash!

Once again, the spirit flies high, this time to Teldrassil, where more spirits are circling the trunk, rising into the giant canopy. The dwarf places his hand on a rock and wearily pulls himself up.

He glances at the bear as they watch the spirits circle around a body of a monster, all flesh having left the skull, with the robe still majestically in it’s place.

Once more the spirit approaches the dwarf, and he bows his head, seemingly in thanks to have been brought along this adventure.

It feels as if it wasn’t for the spirit, he would have continued on another journey.

He smiles, the bear growls softly and sits next to his master. The old dwarf places an arm on his friend.

And they watch as the spirit passes through the branches and away past the second World Tree, and rises to the sky…

And clouds part and the view pans out, allowing us to see Zephras Isles, magnificent and white and covered in even more clouds and green!

The spirit floats close to a hand, and it is a Skyborne, standing on a tall white and golden tower. The Skyborne, light blue and white with gold jewellery, like the clouds and towers around her.

“Azeroth, beckons us back… to home… “

We zoom into the nameless Skyborne, as they raise their arms and the cloth around their neck flaps in the sky around them…

“… to adventure…”

We zoom into her face as it rises, momentarily stopping as if unsure looking away and down, and then fully looking towards us with hope, eyes completely open revealing a gold, warm gaze of longing…

“… forever!”

The white spirit circles our Azeroth, revealing the new World of Warcraft Forever logo with the infinity symbol.
