WoW Forever: Everything We Know

World of Warcraft: Forever is Blizzard’s new take on Azeroth: a reimagined original World of Warcraft experience built around exploration, discovery and a world designed to keep growing.

With the beta beginning September 17, 2026 and the full game launching November 4, 2026, there is already a lot we know about Forever — and plenty that remains to be discovered.

This page collects the major confirmed details in one place.

What is WoW Forever?

Forever is a new World of Warcraft experience set in a reimagined original Azeroth.

Blizzard describes it as a world where familiar locations and ideas meet new discoveries, with the journey intended to matter as much as the destination.

Forever is not simply another Classic server. Blizzard is positioning it as its own World of Warcraft experience, with new content and systems built into the original-style Azeroth.

When does WoW Forever launch?

The global launch is scheduled for:

November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST.

Access to Forever will be included with a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time.

Before launch, players will have the opportunity to test the game during the public beta.

WoW Forever Beta

September 17 – October 21, 2026

Beta access is included with the Skyborne Epic Pack and the Warcraft Forever Collection.

That makes September 17 the next major date for players wanting to experience Forever.

A reimagined original Azeroth

The most important thing to understand about Forever is that Blizzard isn’t simply reproducing the original game.

The foundation is recognisably classic Azeroth, but the world has been expanded with new adventures and new discoveries.

The intention is to make Azeroth feel familiar without making the player experience identical to the original release.

That means returning players should recognise the world while still having reasons to explore places they thought they knew.

New playable race: Skyborne

One of Forever’s biggest additions is the Skyborne, a new playable race.

The Skyborne have their own starting experience on Zephras Isle.

The Skyborne Heroic Pack provides access to the race and its starting experience, while the Epic Pack adds beta access and other benefits.

The Skyborne will therefore be one of the first major areas of Forever that existing WoW players haven’t experienced before.

New areas to explore

Forever expands Azeroth with new locations and adventures.

Among the new content announced so far is Zephras Isle, which serves as the Skyborne starting experience.

Blizzard has also described Forever as a world containing new discoveries throughout the reimagined original Azeroth.

The exact experience of these areas — their quests, stories, routes, rewards and secrets — is something players will be able to investigate properly once the beta opens.

More quests

Forever is not simply adding a handful of new quests.

Blizzard has announced more than 1,000 new quests.

That is significant because quests are one of the main ways players experience Azeroth.

For players who enjoy exploring every zone and following the stories hidden throughout the world, the additional quest content could become one of Forever’s biggest attractions.

We’ll learn much more about these quests during the beta.

Dungeons

Forever will include new dungeons alongside the existing world.

Blizzard has announced nine new dungeons as part of the game’s expanded content.

The dungeons will provide additional group content while fitting into the wider Forever world.

Exactly how players will progress through them, what level ranges they cover and how their rewards work are areas we will be watching closely during beta.

Raids

Forever also expands the endgame with two new raids.

This means the game isn’t simply focused on recreating the original leveling experience.

There will be new large-scale group content for players to work towards after progressing through Azeroth.

Further details about the raid encounters, bosses, rewards and progression will become clearer as Blizzard reveals more information and players explore the beta.

The level cap

Forever retains a level 60 cap.

That is an important part of the game’s identity.

Rather than following the traditional pattern of continuously raising the level cap with new expansions, Forever is designed around the idea that the world itself can continue expanding while the level cap remains 60.

Exactly how long-term progression will work is therefore one of the most interesting questions surrounding the game.

New race and class combinations

Forever also opens up new possibilities for character creation.

Blizzard has announced additional race and class combinations, giving players options that weren’t available in the original game.

These combinations could have a meaningful effect on:

  • Character creation
  • Leveling
  • Group composition
  • Class availability
  • PvP
  • Professions
  • The wider game economy

The complete list of combinations and their final implementation is something we’ll be documenting as the beta develops.

Professions

Professions are another major part of the Forever experience.

Blizzard has announced new professions and skills as part of the expanded game.

This is particularly interesting because professions have always played an important role in the original WoW experience.

Crafting can affect:

  • Character progression
  • The player economy
  • Gear
  • Consumables
  • Gathering
  • Trading
  • Group preparation

We’ll be able to properly examine the new profession systems once the beta is live.

Account-wide features

Forever also introduces account-wide elements.

The idea is to make some aspects of progression and ownership more useful across an entire player’s account rather than restricting everything to a single character.

Exactly which systems benefit from this and how they work will be important areas to investigate during beta.

What about existing World of Warcraft?

Forever is intended to be a separate World of Warcraft experience.

It isn’t simply a replacement for Modern WoW, nor is it another version of Classic that follows exactly the same path.

Players will have multiple ways to experience World of Warcraft, with Forever providing its own version of Azeroth.

That distinction is important when comparing Forever with Classic.

We’ve created a separate guide for that:

WoW Forever vs Classic

How much does Forever cost?

Forever itself is included with a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time.

Blizzard is also selling optional upgrade packs.

The Heroic Pack includes:

  • Veteran Adventurer’s Rucksack
  • Shen’dorei Windwell toy
  • Skyborne housing decorations for modern WoW
  • One Invite-A-Friend Launch Code

Skyborne Epic Pack

The Epic Pack includes everything in the Heroic Pack plus:

  • Forever beta access
  • 30 days of WoW Game Time beginning November 4
  • Additional cosmetics
  • Tabards

Warcraft Forever Collection

The limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection includes everything in the Epic Pack along with:

  • Forsaken and Human housing decorations for modern WoW

The collection is currently scheduled to remain available through January 11, 2027.

Beta access

The beta begins:

September 17, 2026

and is scheduled to run until:

October 21, 2026.

Beta access is included with the Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection.

This period is likely to answer many of the questions that cannot be answered from Blizzard’s announcement alone.

That’s why this site will treat the beta as the beginning of the real information-gathering phase.

Character name reservation

Players who purchase an eligible upgrade will also receive Early Name Reservation.

This runs from:

October 27 – November 3, 2026.

Players can create and customise up to three characters during the reservation period.

Names are first-come, first-served and Blizzard does not guarantee that a desired name will be available.

Launch-week friend access

Qualifying purchases also include Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes.

Eligible friends can use these codes to access Forever without a subscription or Game Time during the launch-week period:

November 4 – November 11, 2026.

The Heroic Pack includes one code, while the Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection include three total codes.

What we still don’t know

This is where things get interesting.

Despite the amount Blizzard has announced, many practical questions remain unanswered.

For example:

Classes

We know new race/class combinations are coming, but the beta will tell us much more about how each class actually performs.

Players will want to know:

  • Which classes are strongest?
  • Which builds work?
  • Which classes are wanted in groups?
  • How do the new combinations perform?
  • What changes from the original game?

Professions

The announcement gives us the broad direction, but players will need to test:

  • Crafting recipes
  • Gathering
  • Materials
  • Profession specialisations
  • Economy
  • Best professions for different classes

Endgame

The existence of new dungeons and raids is confirmed.

The bigger question is how the complete level-60 progression system fits together.

That’s something we’ll learn by playing.

Economy

The economy will be particularly interesting because new content, professions, items and players will all interact.

The beta should give us our first real look at:

  • Item prices
  • Gathering value
  • Crafting demand
  • Gold-making opportunities
  • Auction House behaviour
  • Rare materials

The long-term plan

Perhaps the biggest unanswered question is what Forever eventually becomes.

Blizzard has described a world that is ready to grow for years to come.

What that growth looks like remains to be seen.

Will new zones arrive?

Will new dungeons and raids be added?

How frequently will content change?

How will the level-60 philosophy work over several years?

Those are questions that only time — and the players — can answer.

The bottom line

World of Warcraft: Forever is taking a familiar foundation and building something new on top of it.

It has the original Azeroth, a level-60 philosophy and an emphasis on the journey — but it also has a new playable race, more than 1,000 quests, new dungeons, new raids, new professions, new combinations and an expanded world.

The biggest unanswered questions aren’t really about whether Forever has new content.

We already know it does.

The interesting questions are how all of those systems actually work together.

That’s what the beta should start revealing.

And that’s what we’ll be tracking here at WoW Forever Hub.
